Mirakl marketplace accounting for UK sellers

B&Q, Debenhams and The Range each run their marketplace on Mirakl, with their own statements and payouts. We reconcile each one to your bank as a separate channel.

One platform, several marketplaces

Mirakl is the software behind several UK retailers' online marketplaces, including B&Q (diy.com), Debenhams and The Range. You sell through each retailer's own marketplace, so each one is a separate sales channel in your books, with its own statements and payouts. As with any marketplace, the payout is your sales less commission, refunds and other adjustments, so it won't match your order totals.

What a Mirakl marketplace shows you

Each retailer runs its marketplace in its own Mirakl back office, with its own billing cycles. The transaction log lists, line by line, what makes up your balance: the order, any shipping, the retailer’s commission and the VAT on that commission. The retailer’s invoices and the payment for each billing cycle are listed against the same cycle, and that payment is what the money in the bank should match.

How a marketplace payout is reconciledIllustrative example. A marketplace payout of £1,240.00 is split into sales of £1,500.00, fees of minus £195.00 and refunds of minus £65.00. The payout is then matched to a £1,240.00 receipt on the bank statement and marked as reconciled.IllustrativeMarketplace payout£1,240.00Sales£1,500.00Fees−£195.00Refunds−£65.00Bank statement · 4 SepMarketplace payout£1,240.00Matched: £1,500.00 − £195.00 − £65.00 = £1,240.00

What we do

A Mirakl-powered marketplace can be one of the sales channels covered by our ecommerce bookkeeping. We:

  • reconcile your marketplace activity to the payouts and your bank records
  • keep your monthly bookkeeping and bank reconciliations up to date
  • show sales, commission and refunds separately, not as one net figure
  • flag differences we can't explain and ask you about them

Fees are on the price list, and your quote sets out which channels, accounts and volumes it covers.

We confirm the scope and fee in a written quote before any work starts. VAT is not currently charged.

Selling on The Range?

The Range replaced its previous in-house marketplace system with Mirakl. If you sold through both, see our guide to reconciling The Range and Mirakl records.

Already behind?

If earlier months were never reconciled, we can catch them up. That work is quoted separately. See catching up messy ecommerce records.
