What Andrew takes on

Andrew can run your accounting and finance work, change how a piece of recurring work gets done, or build software around the way the business runs. Most clients start with one of these, and we can keep running the work once it’s built.

Each one below says what you supply, what Andrew does, what you approve and what you receive.

Running the accounting and finance work

When the regular work is falling behind or nobody owns the accounts, Andrew takes it on: bookkeeping and reconciliations, supplier and customer accounts, payroll and agreed VAT work, through to the monthly close and the year-end accounts. He can work on his own or alongside your accountant and team.

Who does what

You supply
Access to the bank and the accounting system, the source documents (invoices, receipts, settlement and payroll information), and answers to the questions the records can’t settle.
Andrew does
The bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll preparation, VAT returns, reports and year-end accounts agreed in your quote, and the investigation of anything that doesn’t agree.
You approve
Payments, filings and submissions, and business decisions.
You receive
Reconciled records and supporting reports, a list of outstanding items with who is following each one up, the returns and accounts in your quote, and working papers that trace each figure back to its records.

Improving recurring work

Some work keeps repeating, stalling or going wrong: invoices keyed in twice, approvals that wait for days, documents that go missing. Andrew follows a sample through your systems, works out whether the cause is the software, the information or who owns the step, and changes the process before anything is automated.

Who does what

You supply
Access to the systems involved, representative records, and time with the people who do the work.
Andrew does
Maps the process, finds the cause of the repeated work, documents the revised routine, and tests changes on representative records, including duplicates, missing inputs and corrections.
You approve
The revised routine, and any wider build, integration or migration, which is scoped after a feasibility review.
You receive
A process map, checklists and exception lists, test results, operating instructions and a named owner for ongoing support. Running the improved process can be a separate arrangement.

Building software around the business

Where the records and the work don’t fit an off-the-shelf product, Andrew builds the software himself, around the accounting it has to support: what a record needs to contain, which steps need approval, and what has to stay traceable when something changes.

Who does what

You supply
How the work runs today, access to the records and systems involved, and the decisions only you can make.
Andrew does
Writes down how long the work takes and what it costs today, builds the software, runs it alongside the current way of working until it has proved itself, then measures the same work again.
You approve
The starting record, before anything is built, and the terms of the check against it.
You receive
The working software, and the comparison of the same work against the starting record.

It starts with a free review of the process. The proposal that follows says what will be built and its one-off price, with any running costs charged by other providers shown separately: see the guide prices for automation and software. Running it afterwards is a separate choice, described below.

“Save time or money” is checked against that starting record: how an engagement works.

Running the agreed work for you

We can build the system and run the work behind it. You can commission a defined build for a one-off price and run it yourselves, or have us keep operating the agreed processes for a monthly fee quoted for your business. A build on its own doesn’t carry a monthly subscription to us.

Who does what

You supply
The logins you authorise, and the information only the business has.
We do
The responsibilities you choose from those above, as listed in the proposal, with anything that doesn’t fit the routine raised with you.
You approve
Payments, filings, and anything sent in your name.
You receive
The work kept up to date, and a list of what is waiting and why.

The proposal sets out any initial project or setup cost, the monthly service fee, the responsibilities included, and any running costs charged by other providers: how each arrangement is charged.

Getting noticed and finding work

Most of the material is already in the business: finished jobs, photographs and drawings, and years of emails and accounts. We turn it into pages, articles and films, then make sure the enquiries they bring in are followed up.

We don’t promise rankings or a number of leads. Because each enquiry’s source is recorded, you can see what the work brought in. Work we’ve done, including the Framewright film.

Who it’s for

Owner-managed businesses across the UK. These pages cover the records and tax questions particular to each kind of business.

Fees

The accounting is on fixed monthly fees, confirmed in a written quote before work begins. Setup work and software builds are one-off prices. VAT is not currently charged, and Xero is paid for separately, directly to Xero. The price list has every line and says how each is charged.

A larger business example: ten sales channels, with two ways to share the work

Example proposed scope

An anonymised example proposal for a business selling across ten sales channels. Close to £3m projected annual turnover, with multiple bank and currency accounts, weekly and monthly payroll, and the books held in Xero. See how this price builds up.

Both options include agreed marketplace reconciliations, payroll and pensions, UK VAT work, annual accounts and one company Corporation Tax return.

Finance control & compliance

We handle the agreed ten-channel reconciliations, payroll, compliance work and close. Your team keeps routine purchase administration.

Example proposed fee: £1,900 a month

  • Reconciliation across all ten sales channels and the agreed bank and currency accounts: sales, refunds, fees, reserves and settlements.
  • Balance-sheet review, month-end close status and standard Xero reports.
  • Weekly and monthly payroll, RTI submissions, routine pension schedules and contribution reconciliation.
  • Agreed UK VAT and margin-scheme work.
  • Annual accounts and one company Corporation Tax return.

With your team: Your team collects supplier documents, enters routine purchase invoices and keeps the purchase ledger complete.

Managed day-to-day finance

For £600 more a month, we also handle routine purchase administration, coordinate the monthly close and provide fuller management reporting.

Example proposed fee: £2,500 a month

  • The finance-control scope, with managed supplier-document intake and routine coding.
  • Purchase-ledger maintenance and close coordination.
  • Management commentary, agreed KPIs and a cash view, with forecasting defined in scope.

With your team: Your team provides business information and retains approvals for payments, filings and decisions.

What if the records need catching up?

Get in touch. We’ll look at what needs doing and quote any initial work separately from the monthly service.

How do the example volumes work?

The allowances are monthly totals across the included accounts and channels. A bank transaction is one statement line; purchase documents are invoices or receipts. Online orders are counted separately from bank payouts. Stock valuation, overseas work and forecasting are quoted individually; the margin schemes and other VAT work are on the price list.

Can we outsource the full finance function?

Yes. We can run the accounting work, from reconciliations and payroll to the monthly close, management reporting, cash planning and process oversight.
