Temu seller accounting for UK businesses

Temu pays out after the sale, net of its deductions. We reconcile the payouts to your bank and record the sales and deductions separately.

A new channel for UK sellers

Temu runs a Local Seller Programme for UK businesses selling and dispatching from UK stock. As with any marketplace, what you're paid is your sales less the platform's deductions, and payouts arrive after the sale, so the money reaching your bank doesn't match your order totals. For many sellers Temu sits alongside an existing store or marketplace, and that's often when the books stop adding up.

Temu alongside your other channels

Temu is one of the marketplaces our own connections already bring into the accounts, with its fee documents and settlement reports collected and filed for each period. If you sell on Temu as well as other marketplaces, each one is reconciled to its own payouts, then brought together in one set of books. See the marketplace accounting work.

How a marketplace payout is reconciledIllustrative example. A marketplace payout of £1,240.00 is split into sales of £1,500.00, fees of minus £195.00 and refunds of minus £65.00. The payout is then matched to a £1,240.00 receipt on the bank statement and marked as reconciled.IllustrativeMarketplace payout£1,240.00Sales£1,500.00Fees−£195.00Refunds−£65.00Bank statement · 4 SepMarketplace payout£1,240.00Matched: £1,500.00 − £195.00 − £65.00 = £1,240.00

What we do

Temu can be one of the sales channels covered by our ecommerce bookkeeping. We:

  • reconcile your platform activity to the payouts and your bank records
  • keep your monthly bookkeeping and bank reconciliations up to date
  • show sales and deductions separately, not as one net figure
  • flag differences we can't explain and ask you about them

Fees are on the price list, and your quote sets out which channels, accounts and volumes it covers.

We confirm the scope and fee in a written quote before any work starts. VAT is not currently charged.

Already behind?

If Temu sales from earlier months were never recorded properly, we can catch them up. That work is quoted separately. See catching up messy ecommerce records.
